Job description

This international renewable developer is currently heading into an exciting phase in the Australian renewable energy market. With a recent acquisition of a battery systems business and huge growth plans ahead for the next decade, they are now looking for an experienced renewable developer to join their team in Brisbane, to focus on battery storage technological projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide property (town planning and land access) advice support to the PDI team to ensure timely completion of acquisition and DD projects.
  • In conjunction with, and as directed by the RDM, undertake investigation activities associated with the selection, approval and acquisition of projects using agreed processes.
  • Understand the town planning elements of the site identification /selection /acquisition /approval and DD process and provide specialist town planning support to those activities as required.
  • Maintaining the company land templates and supporting the development of new documents as required;
  • Carry out investigations into potential new solar farm/battery storage site locations including planning overlays and legislation, property ownership and constraints, connection options etc. by conducting searches and analysis to identify areas of risk relevant to projects using agreed processes.
  • Initial contact with landholders and subsequent negotiations to secure project sites suitable for development;
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations while maintaining the company templates (and software) and supporting the development of new documents as required.
  • Project manage the acquisition and planning approval processes.
  • Prepare scopes, review submissions and manage contracts from consultants for planning, environment, surveying and other external services.
  • Develop expert property knowledge for the business and keep abreast of new legal and property matters
  • Develop and maintain a network of relationships both within the organisation - PDI, EPC, accounting, procurement; and outside the organisation with key stakeholders/suppliers etc. The level of direct interactions with external stakeholders will vary according to project requirements.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • An appropriate tertiary level qualification in a relevant field (town planning, environmental planning, land management etc), or equivalent acquisition / planning / project support experience combined with a relevant town planning qualification.
  • Analytic and problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of planning and approval processes.
  • An understanding of project management processes, and delivery.
  • Experience in land acquisition and awareness of applicable planning legislation, standards and guidelines.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills with strong written, analytic and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of project scheduling concepts, tools, techniques, and software such as MS-Project.
  • Knowledge of office productivity software such as MS-Office suite.
  • Knowledge of GIS systems (GoogleEarth etc).
