Job description

Navartis are currently working with a specialist land reclamation and property development specialist who provide global multifunction solutions to organisations across the world. They remain a privately owned business operating across a variety of sectors but with a heavy focus on land development and ports.

They are now seeking to hire a competent and professional Asbestos (& Enabling) Manager for its site in the North East. The ideal candidate will have a background of working in a live asbestos environment, who is capable of working on pre-assessment to post delivery. This person will also have an understanding of arranging and renewing asbestos licence documentation, delivering workforce plans, planning and managing works.

Duties and Responsibilities include;-
- Providing legislation updates, specific to waste, asbestos, hazardous materials and make staff aware of any changes.
- Ensuring that all relevant waste transfer/consignment notes are available and written out, stored and filed correctly.
- Maintaining and reviewing waste tracker for Project.
- Ensuring all wastes are removed to fully licensed facility for the type of categorised waste.
- Carrying out audits for licensed disposal facilities. Ensuring that assessments are carried out on any hazardous substances to be removed, that the necessary precautions are taken and the relevant COSHH safety data is maintained and communicated to all operatives under your control.
- Ensuring that all safety features are in place for asbestos related work such as decontamination units, three stage airlocks, working enclosures etc. Organising the site so that work is carried out to the appropriate standard required by the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 with minimum risk to employees, equipment and materials.
- Ensuring HSE are notified via an ASB5 form of future asbestos work in a timely manner and in accordance with regulations.
- Ensure all PCIP information is identified and understood, and that all non and hazardous material/waste is removed correctly and segregated.
Essential and desirable qualifications include;-
- Relevant hazardous waste management qualifications/experience.
- CCDO and UKATA Asbestos Manager training .
- Knowledge of asbestos management regulations.
- First Aid training
- Knowledge of CDM 2015 and management experience, with a minimum IOSH or SMSTS certificate.
- Knowledge of Hazardous Waste Regulations including HAZMAT survey experience.
- Experience of dealing with LSA, hydrocarbon, antifreeze, CFCs and other such wastes.
- Strong organisational skills and a concern for excellence.
- Competent in the use of the MS Office suite of programmes, with the appropriate technical skills and generally computer literate.
