Permanent and Contract Highways Engineer Jobs

Any development plan will typically have an impact on the roads in the local area. It will affect everything from the movement of pedestrians to the general level of traffic or access to public transport. As a highway engineer, it will be your responsibility to address any issue like this. It will be your duty to make sure that considerations are made to the current level of infrastructure and arrangement of services. You will be responsible for ensuring that the practical aspect of a project remains cost-effective regarding access for all types of transportation.

Furthermore, you will be required to research and provide various pieces of data. It will be important to gather stats on road traffic accidents, parking surveys and info on utility services. It is at this point that you will need to provide any changes to the plan that must be completed before construction work is carried out with relation to transport issues.

Once work begins on a project, you will need to be onsite, providing advice and recommendations and helping to deal with any issues if and when they arrive.
