The Skills You Need
To work as a Geotechnical Engineer, you will need to have a degree in Civil Engineering, and this degree must be from an accredited civil engineering institution. Your degree must cite geotechnical engineering as the primary subject of study.
Besides that, you’ll need to have an advanced degree of knowledge about geotechnical designing software, the ability to express yourself both verbally and via the written word, to a high standard, and excellent analytical skills. Competent geotechnical engineers are also able to work well in a team because most projects will be a joint effort with many players required to get the job done. An ability to analyse data to a high standard would also be desirable.
