Principal Electrical Engineer

Our clients are world leaders in the design, development and delivery of underground transportation schemes both in the UK and overseas. This includes metros systems, rail and road tunnels. Their work includes all aspects of the electrical and mechanical (E&M) infrastructure necessary for their successful operation. They are seeking to recruit for a Principal Electrical Engineer to take a leading role in this business stream. The successful candidate will report to a Business Stream Leader and be based in the South East. They will act as a professional head for electrical engineering. They will also lead the electrical aspects of projects of all sizes, from concept design to commissioning and will also lead electrical and mechanical teams working on major multi-discipline design projects. They will supervise and check the work of junior engineers and support their professional development in respect of electrical design. The successful candidate will be expected to develop relationships with key clients and continue to promote Mott MacDonald effectively and the services we offer and will be expected to play a key role in business development. The successful candidate will be expected to develop the staff working under them to create and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships. The ideal candidate must be a Chartered Electrical Engineer with extensive experience in the industry. o Have proven experience in the design and management of electrical and mechanical projects. o Have design experience related to road tunnels, rail tunnels and metro systems. o Have team leadership experience. o Have the ability to communicate with clarity both verbally and in writing. o Be able to represent our client at a senior level with clients on both a technical and contractual level.
